Second Impressions-Business cards revamped

A while back I posted about the business cards I was hand printing [http://mothbeam.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/first-impressions.html]. Since then, I've made several different versions as I've grown and honed what I'm about. Thought you'd like a look at the latest incarnation [which is very much still a work in progress] of the little slice of paper that is supposed to sum up what I do!

As I use a lot of vintage materials in my creations, I decided using faded grey grainy paper from a 1950s photo album was a perfect way demonstrating my love of upcycling.

One of the lovely things about this paper is that it has got that old book smell. Another feature is that it has little slits where the photos are supposed to go. I decided to work with these and make them into a design detail by weaving them with ribbon my mum had saved from those little satin loops used to keep clothes on hangers.

Hopefully the ribbon design looks a bit like a bird in flight. Along with the butterfly print, its a nice little nod to the MothandMagpie namesake of my Etsy shop.

Old gloopy silver nail varnish makes the butterfly sparkle.
The butterfly blazing a trail with my blog address, Red Arrow style.

  4. Don't tell anyone but the bit about it looking like a bird was a happy fluke that I'll hopefully be able to reproduce!
